My story about the Paralympics, titled: THE TEST ~ * ~ My quest for the Paralympic Gold was a long and difficult journey. But, it was a journey that was well worth the effort. After competing in numerous elimination events culminating in the Paralympic Trails held in Atlanta, Georgia, in the spring, I made the Paralympic Team as a world class athlete, Class F7, and American record holder in Javelin, Shotput, and Discus. In August, the biggest event of my life, the Paralympics, was held in Atlanta, Georgia. My physical condition was not what I desired for this competition. In fact, the odds for success were against me. I had bone chips and a bone spur on a cracked elbow. As if this weren't enough, all the injuries were in my throwing arm. Friends, coaches, competitors, and medical staff advised me to eliminate one of my events or not compete at all, My response, of course, was to compete anyway. The rest is history!
